Dearest soul searcher, you’re so full of potential, chances are you’ll make a few mistakes along the way so I wanted to tell you a few things that might guide you on your journey. Life can be tough so I thought I’d send you the letter I wish I’d had when I was your age. I hope you find some useful tips in what I’m about to tell you. I hope it doesn’t sound too preachy but I promise you it’s totally worth the time.

Self love

Fall truly madly deeply in love with yourself for that is your most important relationship. Love yourself truly and unconditionally. Make healthy choices. Set your core beliefs, values and boundaries and revisit them regularly. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. Get familiar with saying no when you need to. Don’t allow others to overstep your boundaries. Stop doubting yourself, you are truly worthy of all of the worlds good things. You are not better than anybody else and nobody is better than you. Ditch the inferiority or superiority complex. The Ego rarely serves. You have nothing to prove to anyone except to yourself.

Spend plenty of time in introspection. Look at what went right and what went wrong on a regular basis and you will know how to adjust the course of your life intuitively. Trust yourself you have enough about you to know what’s right and wrong always listen to that small voice inside of you.

Lifelong Learning

Commit to continuous improvement. Read everyday. Work on yourself diligently, never think you’ve arrived it’s a lifelong journey.

Cultivating Strength

Identify and embrace your weaknesses and find the strength in them. There is growth hidden in reframing weakness, negativity and adversity. Look for the lessons.

Ditch the Distractions

Life is full of distractions. If you must be a consumer, become an avid consumer of books, especially self-development books. Consume them like your life depends on it because it does. Comfort is a trap, get outside of your comfort zone and expand your horizons on a daily basis.

Dream Big

Place your dreams on a pedestal and keep them there. Don’t let anybody tell you what you can and can’t accomplish, they’re not on your journey. Life’s too short to stifle your creativity for the comfort of others.

Watch your Habits

Be aware of your habits, your dreams can easily be consumed by the careless ones. When you realise you have slipped into a negative pattern quickly replace it with something empowering because poor habits are dream killers.

Live in your Passions and Purpose

Step out into the world with pride, passion and purpose. Be a force for good. That is where your power lives. Immerse yourself in your passions. Dream bigger than you ever thought possible. Decide on your ultimate goal, Break it down, schedule it and pursue it diligently. Work smart, systematize what you can and learn the art of delegation. Treat others how you wish to be treated and you will foster the greatest most genuine relationships. Finish what you start.

Your Treasures Await

Never beg for anything, what is for you will come to you in good time. Yes, go after your dreams but be willing to change course when necessary. There is no such thing as a missed opportunity. Your opportunities will always be there for you when you’re ready to claim them.

Fail Forward

Don’t look at your mistakes as failures they’re where the greatest lessons lie. Commit to using them as stepping stones towards your brighter future.

Know your limits and don’t let anybody overstep your boundaries. Say no to what doesn’t serve you. You can’t please everyone so you can let yourself off the hook. Pick your battles. Most of them aren’t worth it.

Baby Steps

Don’t increase your responsibilities unnecessarily. Focus on becoming great at the ones you already have. Give deep thought and research fully before allowing anything new into your life.

Money Mastery

Master the game of money. Learn to manage your money before you start to increase your expenses. Always pay yourself first and spend less than you earn. Credit cards will consume you if you don’t know what you’re doing with them. Become a financial expert even if it’s not your chosen vocation.

Positive Surroundings

Surround yourself with positivity, keep a tidy environment and seek out great role models to emulate. Good places and good people will inspire you. Make sure you are rarely the smartest person in the room. If you wanna be somewhere else find a mentor who’s been there.

Sometimes things will be tough but you can get through it. A little preparation can prevent a myriad of problems. Nothing lasts forever, so hold on through the storms and treasure the good times. Make hay while the sun shines. Appreciate the small stuff, Forgive, Spend more time in nature.

I wish this didn’t sound so much like a list of rules but it’s sent with the utmost love and respect.

If you find a few that resonate, you will surely find the personal power required to play big in this world. Overall, be kind to yourself and others and enjoy the journey. I love you to infinity.

Love your note on Distraction. It is so easy in this day and age to become completely distracted from your goals, purpose, and direction. It is always important to keep on target.

This is great. Maybe I’ll do one a week with my kids for the upcoming school year. Might pay off as school is an iffy component of life for my kids.

Those are all such important tips for everyone. I struggle with self-love. Even though I love the person I am, I am always doubting if I am doing the right thing or wondering how I can be better. I am good enough as I am.
