Since I often struggle with the way may day flows on a daily basis, I am a firm believer in setting healthy boundaries. Once set if you can keep them your life will flow more easily and you will still feel that everything is getting accomplished. So here’s the list. I don’t recommend trying to change too many things in your life at once, it’s all about baby steps.  good luck with your journey. 

  1. Set days for deliveries, visitors, laundry etc. You won’t get so frustrated about the build-up of laundry or being home for your special delivery if you know that you have booked and scheduled these kinds of things for specific days of the month. My favourite day to arrange for visitors, laundry, shopping and post deliveries is the 30th and 31st. That way I know we will be entering the new month with peace of mind that these things won’t need to happen for another month and I can focus on other things. 
  2. Block out an hour or two in the morning to focus on your most important task. When I say most important I don’t mean checking email or Facebook.. #notimportant. I mean the one thing that is going to bring your life forward the most. The thing that is going to improve your business the most or the thing that is going to give your relationships or emotional state the biggest boost. Turn off all of the distractions during that time and don’t get up until the task is complete or the time is up. Then give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done.
  3. Declutter, less things in your home means fewer things to clean and organise. If you haven’t used something in a long time get rid of it. If you need to use something you know you’ll only need once, find a way to borrow it from somewhere so you don’t have to think about storage and/or maintenance.
  4. A place for everything. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Home organisation is a game changer. If you have a home for everything around the house and better still if its all labelled, your kids might even put things away now and then… 
  5. Single-tasking. If anything comes up while you’re in the middle of something instead of trying to multitask and get them both done, keep a list nearby that you can add to so you can be free to ensure each job is completed without too much distraction.

    I have found that breaking down a big project into small projects insure that it gets done without the extra stress.
